Marmilla
This area was given the name Marmilla by the Conquistadors, and the final battle for Aragonese control of Sardinia was fought here. The name seems to derive from the noun “mammella”, meaning “breast”, referring to the curves in the landscape. In fact, motherhood is evoked not only by the rounded hills but also by the fertile fields, used since time out of mind to grow wheat, pulses, olives and grapes.
